Kyle Field Renovation – Texas A&M University
Texas A&M University recently finished a major renovation to the historic Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. The $450 million project was finished in time for the 2015 football season and now has the largest seating capacity (102,512) in the SEC. Parts of the stadium date back to 1927 with many patchwork additions added through the years. Nearly 90% of the stadium stands new.
Structural and Steel Products was called on to built the tubular steel columns that support the upper deck at Kyle Field. They are fabricated from steel plate into 18 X 30” tube columns that range in length from 50’ to 76’ in length.
These permanently exposed steel columns serve both structural and architectural purposes with a functional and attractive multidirectional flare near the top.
Structural and Steel Products is proud to have been a part of the most extensive redevelopment of a collegiate athletic facility in history and will serve as a benchmark for future redevelopment projects at colleges across the nation.
